punakai i/o project
the intention was that i be born in hawaii originally, but fate shifted the objective and instead it was new jersey... the garden state... an equally beautiful place to grow... hawaii has always had a deep resonance beaming big time, and tho i've yet to go there the spirit soars and travels often - which is why these designs drew me in... made on the big island punakai's art is deeply rooted in native essence presence vibration - these i/o hawks are the only hawks native to and exclusively of the islands... being a bit near-sighted the sharp eyesight of hawks and their spirit of Ra evokes a reverence and inspires a natural awe
i inquired about having her print these two designs on two of my hemp shirts and it came out beautifully in every way - two of my favorite garments of all time
